New guy...insurance issues.

Well...new member here, even though I had my camry now since january...I think it was about time I joined a forum like this one in which I oculd get help in how to care for my new car as best as possible, so...well here's a little request for those who know abou insurances...
Last night I got into my first accident, coming back from the valley and to my house (1 hr drive) and a couple of exits before mine I fell asleep (2:30 AM) and hit the guard rail hard on the passenger side. The result was the hubcaps flew off god knows where, both doors were bent and have 2 distinct scratched that run evenly, the fender was bent as well, and the bumpers have small scratches nearby. My insurance papers odn't say exactly what they cover and what they don't, other than a questionable "500/500". Can anyone tell me what this means? I don't know what to do form here on as it's sunday and I won't be able to rpeort it until tomorrow. My car's a black 07 Camry CE by the way...

wuts up man....im also new to the forum. sorry to here wut happened. from what ur sayin, most likely ur deductible is sittin at 500 and u should have full coverage since its a new car. pretty much, u can claim it and pay ur deductibe and depending on ur insurance carrier, ur premium might go up. or....not claim it and try fixin without the insurance help though it might hurt the pocket a little.

Well, more than a little...considering I'm broke as, uhm...I am currently. Reporting it to the insurance will have to be the only way to go, as doing something crazy like reporting it as a parkign lot hit and run (crazy friend suggested it) will be very fishy to make it work...not to mention hassle. I just want my car fixed! T_T

again it depends on ur insurance provider....some are more linient than others. i know its gonna hurt to look at ur car like that but u might want to take ur time with this and plan it right. its not hard at all, its all about how u word things. i dont know....maybe, something fell of the back of a truck in front of u and u tried dodging it cause it was coming directly to ur windshield but u couldnt get the license number cause it kept going and u had to stop.....but yeah a lotta things can happen.

Well, this is really my first accident where I'll report things. There shouldn't be anythign bad since my record is clean and Im an overall good driver. My other accident was with ym odl car, a 93 mazda 323, which thankfully I hit nobody but the mountain, and the repairs I was able to do myself. I other words...I'm too much of a chickenherat to try to lie my way into getting my car fixed for free.

well its good not to lie. im sure your premiums will go up for sure if you tell them you fell asleep. Repairs are gunna be real costly since it is a new car.

yes its the deductible .. you pay $500 , insurance pays the rest . Your premiums may go up next renewal .. Sorry to hear about this
