Transmission fluid change interval
I have a 2011 Camry SE with 95,000 miles. When should transmission fluid be changed?
At my last trip to the dealer they said I was due. Ok. I asked them how often they said every 5,000 miles!! I was not confusing this with the engine oil. This can’t be right?! There aren’t contaminants like the engine oil. thanks! |
Toyota was supposed to use a synthetic and called the fluid "lifetime" but it is not.
Toyota has no specified time interval on trans fluid changes. Instead the dealer has a color chart to compare the fluid color to and determine condition. Suggest having it all changed some time in the near future. Some 100K on trans fluid is reaching the end. Most trans failures are due to worn out fluid. Don't due a "flush" or use chemicals cleaners. Just replace the old fluid with new. My own opinion is to change synthetic around 60-70K with normal driving. Shorter if stop and go and trailer pulling. |
Even every 50k
That sounds more reasonable. I’ll pass on the next “up sell” at 5k.
thanks!! |
