RE: Power Antenna?
Good luck, I need one too. There was a guy parting out a 94 that said to ask him for parts on this forum but he never got back to me when I aske if I could have his.

RE: Power Antenna?
Yeah, I have found these things almost impossible to find at all much less in working order. I'm been to/called every junk yard within a 75 mile radius of my home and I found one and the motor was burnt out on it.
Buy the way, you can get a universal power antenna on ebay for pretty cheap but I'm REALLY going to recommend against it. It was a piece of garbage and is damn near impossible to mount cleanly in the camry. Just so you know. But I'm about to just say screw it and throw in a universal stationary "euro" antenna from ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Toyota-EuroStyle...742.m153.l1262 Good luck out there! |
RE: Power Antenna?
Actually, that euro deal does't look too bad for the price. As long as I can go throught the carwash without messing with it. How is the reception with one of those units?

RE: Power Antenna?
I didn't think so either, And I used to have the same rubber type antenna on my old Jeep. The reception was decent with it, I didn't notice any difference from stock at that time, but I also RARELY listen to the radio. I'm really just sick of having a hole with duct tape over it in my rear passenger panel. Even if it is my beater/winter/commuter car. I ordered the euro antenna shortly after my last message, when it gets here I'll let you know how the reception is. Later!

RE: Power Antenna?
Well, I've got it installed. It looks pretty good, I'll try to get pictures up a little later. But it was kind of a pain in the ass. The headless bolt that came with it was too small and then I made another and it was too long and then I shortened at and then the base of the damn thing moved up. I finally got it on and it SHOULD stay but I'm not placing any bets on it. I ended up using a few washers to get it to stay. All in all, I can't say I'm completely happy with it just because I'm not certain that I'll not have to screw around with it again. BTW when I visited my local best buy for a little speaker install advice (that was also a pain because toyota stock size isn't actually 6.5" in the front) I noticed they had almost the exact sam antenna in the install garage. I might recommend buying one from there so you can easily return it if you don't like it. Oh and reception seems fine I guess. Nothing overly impressive or bad as far as i can tell. Good Luck!
