Interior LED lights auto illumination?
 

Does anyone know how I can connect my LED lights in my car so that they only turn on when my headlights turn on as well? I have a 2010 Camry. If it's of any useful info, I also have the automatic headlights. I've tried and tried with no success. The LED lights are grounded fine, I just can't identify the right wire to splice together. The closest I've gotten was splicing it with the red wire, the problem was it only powered my lights when the car was shut off... Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you trying to tap into the wiring?

I'm trying to go through the headlight switch. I've grounded the wire, but can't figure out which wire i'm suppose to splice the power wire to. The idea is to have the lights to turn on only when the headlights turn on. Not sure if having automatic headlights will affect which wire i splice. When i tried to splice what i believed was the headlight power wire, the led lights wouldn't turn on, and the high beams on my car were forced on whenever i activated my headlights. Pretty lost at this point.

Headlight operation is not like you might expect. The headlight switch does NOT directly turn on/off power to the headlights, etc.

The switch works in conjunction with power relays, the auto light system, running light system (if you have it) and the cars computer. Taping into the switch for 12V power to the LED's is not going to work and interfere with headlight operation.

If you are not inclined to car electronics, might be better off taping into the cars tail light power as this goes to the bulbs. The bulbs are always on when the headlight switch is on.

Or add a switch that only powers the LED's.

How much current do these LED's use? The cars wiring does have fuses which can only take so much current.

Electrical has always been my weak spot. I can install a radio and that's really about all the electrical stuff i can do, it's tough trying to get this whole thing to work. If going through the switch isn't going to work, how would i go about taping into the car's tail light power?

Need to find a power wire to the tail lights, then tap in. The wiring runs down the drivers side rocket panel.

Tail light wires may be brown but look at the bulb wiring. White/black wires are typically ground.
