1997 Brakes Rotors and Pads

Guys:

I have both a 1997 Camry Le (226,000 miles) and a 1998 Lexus GS 300. I have brand new EBC front rotors for the Lexus lying around the house and I wanted to know if they would fit on my Camry? My camry needs brakes and I would like to use the rotors on the camry as it will save money and improve the braking performance over the worn-out crappy Pep Boys replacement ones i have now.

can anyone recommend good brake pads for the camry as well? also if these rotors won't fit, what kind do you receommend i go with and ballpark pricing. i am using stock calipers with all my cars.

thanks,
ted

RE: 1997 Brakes Rotors and Pads

The Lexus appears to use a larger diameter rotor.

Suggest Brembo brand rotors, around $40 mail order at rockauto. These are the plain rotors, non-drilled, slotted, etc. Make sure you specify engine size, might measure the diameter of the ones you have.

Toyota OEM pads are fine at around $50-60 from the dealer, or Hawke makes a good pad. Suggest a softer semi-metallic pad versus a ceramic pad as they are easier on the rotor and work just fine for normal driving.

Toyomoho, have you ever tried Akebono pads? Just wondering if they were any good. Thanks.
