Default 05 Camry cv joints

Our 05 Camry is suspected of having bad cv joint(s) at 65,000 miles.
Anyone know what the joint replacement costs are vs replacing the whole transaxle?

Transaxle replacement?

The joint is part of the axle and sold as a unit. A Toyota brand axle might cost $250-350 plus installation labor, perhaps a few hours at whatever their shop rate is.

Aftermarket replacement axles are much cheaper but the majority tend to be rebuilt units which can be of dubious quality.

If you suspect an axle at car speeds of 10 mph make sharp 90 and 180 degree turns in both directions. Listen for any popping or clicking noises from the area of the front wheels.
