Default 2010 Camry - rear clunking noise

For several months now, my 2010 Camry LE (136,000 miles) has been generating a rear clunking noise over uneven roads. The car handled well otherwise. All the posts on the internet suggested that worn sway arm bushings were the most likely cause. The local chain tire/garage outlet claimed that they did a visual inspection of the bushings and 'they looked fine.' I took it to my mechanic and asked him to replace the sway arm bushings. It turns out that they were quite worn. The noise disappeared. Moral to the story: A quick visual inspection may not reveal how worn those sway arm bushings are!

Good point. These bushings may look OK but are worn.
