'93 parking brake sticking
'93 sedan w/ABS and rear disc brakes
My left rear parking brake is hanging up for the first few minutes of driving occasionally. It's not dragging the tire, but it heats up therotor, thumps for a couple of minutes, then goes away. Anyone have a history on this? Is it more likely the internal shoe/spring hardware or the cable/sleeve/pedal? It has rear disc brakes with the combinationparking brake drum in the center. It's starting to get chilly here in upstate NY, so I'm trying to save a little time on the diagnostic. |
RE: '93 parking brake sticking
Your problem is the left parking brake cable is frozen. I just bought one for my car and I am putting it on today

Check the cable. If you live in a place where the weather takes a toll on metal, you can easily have sticky/rusted cables.

An online store that comes in handy. Great people to deal with.

This is most likely just the cable as previously mentioned. My e-brake shoes were worn and I bought my hardware kit and pads from brakeperformance.com. I'd give them a shot.
