96 Camry LE 16 years sitting, waiting for me.
Hello all
I'm the new guy. Just took ownership of a 1996 Camry LE, 4cyl A/T that has been sitting for 16 years waiting on me to show up and do something about that.
It has 143,000 miles and it cost me $143 to temporarily register it. Expired in California since 2006 with no non-op waiting on a smog certificate and a VIN check. So far it has popped up with an ODB code for the EGR which, after clearing hasn't come back yet (probably frozen, we will see). I've changed the oil, coolant and transmission fluids and their respective filters. I have the fuel filter, the engine belt (I only saw one) but still need to put them on. I will be replacing the tires and windshield wipers. I am currently in the throes of getting the brakes to work. I have already posted under a new members posting from about 4 months ago about them not being able to bleed their brakes. I'm waiting to see if the moderator who replied (Toyomoho) to my reply will be moving my reply to it's own thread. If not I could use some direction on doing that myself.
Aside from all that I'm an experienced mechanic of no certifiable credibility (ASE what?) and after years of not caring what a car looks like as long as it ran I have changed my ways and now prefer the futility of a car that looks great but doesn't run . . . "so much easier!" he said sarcastically.

I don't think there are sub-forums for the different Camry generations or have I missed something?
So I guess the appropriate sub-forum would be suspension, brakes, tires & wheels unless you have another suggestion?
Thanks for your time
