recommended tire specs for an 18"x 8 alloys
Hi there, I have an '05 camry 2.4 currently rolling on an oem 17x7 wrapped with 215/55 series tires.
Now I got an 18x8 inch alloys which I got on a very fair price. Which you think maybe the more appropriate tire specs for this kind of size (18x8 rims)? will it be a 225/45 series? or a 245/45 series? Any feedbacks from an 18x8 users there? Thanks in advance. :) :) Oh. by the way my ride is not that lowered, still on a stock height and stance. |
What is the rim offset? Stock may be 40 mm.
For this rim width can use either tire, but suggest 225/45. Check offset first for possible strut clearance issues. |
the new wheel specs is 18x8, 5holes x114.3pcd, offset:ET45, center bore 60.1.

Either tire should fit a stock chassis. Then it becomes a matter of opinion.
The new rims are 8 inch. To get the same tire "look" as current rim/tire combination requires the wider tire. The larger tires will also extend out 1/2 inch further filling the gap between tire and fender which some owners like. Others like the 225 tires as this was the stock tire size. The tire/rim comparer below shows how the tire/rim will look and provide chassis clearance.
