steering difficulities
My Son, a College Student drives a '92 Toyota Camry. I am not close by to observe this issue myself, however, he reports increasing difficulty in turning the car. I am thinking low power steering fluid or perhaps issues with the CV joints. Anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this one..

RE: steering difficulities
ask him if it makes any "whirring" noise. a bad power steering pump, or one very low on fluid will do so. there should also be a check point for the PS fluid, and it should be in the owners manual.

RE: steering difficulities
By now, hopefully the problems fixed? Heres what i would check:
1. loose power steering belt 2. Low PS fluid level 3. Air in system from a leak (if fluid was low) 4. Sticking pressure relief valve in PS pump 5. Worn out PS pump 6. Worn out front end parts: ball joints etc. If it got fixed, what did the problem turn out to be ultimately just curious |
