Hi,

I have a 94 toyota camry le 2.2 L AT w/c i bought 2 months ago.

Posted mileage on gauge and records is 45,000 miles.

I've recently replaced all my shocks w/ kyb excel g,

replaced all my bushings and stablinks ....

and still all four wheels are knocking when i go over

humps and other road imperfections.

I've read around and learned of replacing my shock mounts

and bearings for the front and shock mounts for the rear.

OEM parts are so expensive and i just don't have the money for that.

I looked around ebay and i got more confused about kyb shock mounts

with bearings as their prices are too far apart, some are like $58 and some

are priced at $100 and above.... even though they have the same part

number, the price is nuts...and i don't know what to buy...i need help.

can anyone help me with links for:

- kyb shock mounts with bearings for the front

- kyb shock mounts for the rear

I just don't wanna make a mistake of buying the wrong one

coz if i get it wrong, my car will just stay in the garage...sulking....:(

Hope you guys can help me out.

Thanks!

The rubber material in the upper strut mount can break down with age and cause metal to metal contact. You can inspect the rubber material around the bushing where the strut rod attaches for age damage.

The front strut bearings can start to fail but the result is popping when rotating the steering wheel not going over bumps.

Try Rockauto.com. If you search the internet can find a 5% off discount code to use. They drop ship thus watch shipping charges if buying more the brand of product.

1994 TOYOTA CAMRY Strut Mount

Partsgeek among other sells mounts.

Have used KYB mounts but if short on cash would also use Monroe, Raybestos. Have not used some of the other cheaper brands thus might do an internet search for opinions.

You new struts should be nonservicable but this does not make a difference in the mount design. For front struts get a mount with bearing because the OEM bearings may not fit the mount.

Raybestos has a professional grade and economy grade which is cheaper.

The links between the sway bar and strut can make noise but this is less common.

Make sure the strut still has the insulators (large rubber grommets) between the spring and strut body and mount.

Before taking buying any parts have someone drive the car over bumps and potholes while you listen in the area of the rear upper strut mounts for knocking. If knocking you here you should be able to hear it clearly. Perhaps even taking the upper deck tray out again to make sure the noise is from the upper mount.

If needing front mounts buy a mount with bearing.
If you need to save money there are many other name brands mounts.

For KYB the finish is not up to par with Toyota OEM but otherwise they work fine. As you state Toyota OEM is too expensive.
