87 Toyota Camry ? About how to tighten power steering belt?
Hello I have a 87 Camry manual 4 cylinder. I have 2 questions if you could please help me with them.
1 How do you tighten the power steering pump? If you have a website that shows instructions and pictures of how to do this that would be great. 2 How do you know if the power steering belt is not tight enough? |

I have a question on a 87 toyota camry 4 cylinder manual. What would cause/make a (new or fairly new) Power steering belt become a little loose. Of course I mean also besides the bolts coming loose that adjust the belt as I would think that would be highly unlikely. Please let me know your ideas/opinions on this question thanks. DAve |

I agree with you infact I adjusted the belt today wow hard job easy if you have the right tools though. On my car its only 1 (adjustment bolt) that you need to loosen then comes the hard part easier if you have 2 people. Which is to wedge a large screw driver to make the belt tight then tighten up the bolt. I did it today so hopefully that fixes the problem one thing for sure is the belt was way too loose. The mount bolts may be not of been tightened after the belt adjustment. The belts also stretch and wear with age. I have not adjusted the belts on on my Daughters car yet. I think they have an adjuster bolt on them to pull the belt tight. Then you tighten down the mounting bolts ( you loosen them to adjust the belt ). The book will give you the amount of deflection need when they are adjusted right.
