93 test for high fuel consumption/you can do yourself
 

Hi guys:) since sorting out knock sensor wire and check engine light gone still running fairly high on fuel 7.8 litres per kilometer on 1993 2.2 5sfve automatic.Thank god its lessened.i found a simple test when engine warm turn on aircon when going at steady speed revs should drop for a shortwhile if not iac valve is dirty or broken.mine stays the same does not change when putting aircon on (i left overdriveoff for test)Is there anything else while they are cleaning that part/clean throttle body at same time.Engine starts /idles well and changes gear smoothly with overdrive engaged the revs drop straight away.I hope this is the missing part that can get me to 10 km a litre in city driving.diagnostics show clear no lights no codes:):):)

As far as getting better mileage, just the basics. Make sure tires are properly inflated, air filter is clean, plugs are good, oil changed regularly, not hauling around about of unnecessary weight, etc.
