Ecu for 2003 Toyota Camry
I brought my Camry to the shop due to the locks not working properly, they said I need an electrical control unit, will that take care of my problem? And what is an ecu and is it expensive and does it take a long time to fix? Thank you

Do any of the locks work?
The ECU is plugin part. Shop Epay or auto salvage yard for a used part. |

Problem appears to be the ECU. DIY should be reasonable cost. Shop might be $400+

The ECU is the brains of the car. If you have a warranty and it doesn't cover the ECU/electronics, etc. then your warranty stinks. The actual part is not to hard to get a hold of but it typically requires the dealer to do the programming (matchmaking).
The time to replace the part is not long, to program takes maybe an hour or two. If your warranty tries to deny this claim, I would fight them. |

The car has more then one ECU. The issue seems to be the Body ECU that in part controls the door locks.
