Fuse blowing

Recently I installed a new stereo, replacing the stock unit. The stereo works well, but for some reason the 7.5 fuse for my dome light blew and blows the moment it is replaced. Do you have any idea what would cause this?

Also, the stereo has wiring for a dimming function, but the stock unit did not dim.

Finally, there is a wire with a connecter taped with the rest of the stereo wires, but it was not connected to anything previously. Any idea what that wire is for?

I think it's for the audio of the stereo, I think it's somewhat connected.

What year of car?

What color is the wire with the connector?

What type of stereo, built-in amp or remote amp?

it was not connected to the stock unit. Also, there is only one wire going into it.

The wire is either orange or brown. It was not connected to the stock unit and has only one wire.

The car is a 2000 Camry.

The stereo has a built-in amp -- nothing fancy.

The maker is Boss and it was bought at Frye's

The Dome fuse powers:
Dome light
Cig lighter.
Clock
Theft system
Wireless door locks
Moon roof
Auto light turn off
Ign key and seat belt reminder
Combination meter
Daytime running lights.

Check dome light switch for shorts to chassis. (note the light always has power, the switch just grounds the negative wire to complete the circuit and turn on the light).

Sometimes the cig lighter shorts out.

A Brown/Red harness wire connects to the power antenna to raise and lower it. Does the power antenna work?

A Brown wire connects to ground.
