Cabin air filters should be changed at regularly scheduled intervals. For your 6th generation Toyota Camry, this might be sooner than you think.
This article applies to the 6th Generation Toyota Camry (2007-2011).
Let's face it, pollution can be a problem no matter where you live, but particularly if you live in a bustling city where heavy traffic is the norm. To improve the air quality in your Camry, it's recommended that you change your cabin air filter regularly. While most Camry drivers typically head down to a local Toyota dealership for this simple repair, you might want to consider doing it yourself from the comfort of your own garage. This no-nonsense guide will walk you through the step-by-step instructions to ensure your new cabin air filter is properly installed and ready to deliver clean air for miles to come.
Material Needed
- AQ 1102 cabin air filter
Step 1 – Open the glove box
Move to the front passenger's side area and open your Camry's glove box. Near the bottom hinges on each corner of the glove box you will see a damper arm. Simply use your hands to pull out and unhook the damper arm from each side. Then, push the glove box in and gently pull it down to remove it.
Step 2 – Remove the cabin air filter
You won't need any tools to remove the air filter. Simply push on the tabs located on each end of the cabin air filter cover, and then pull it off. Use your hand to grab the air filter and slide it out of the compartment.
Step 3 – Insert a new cabin air filter
Position and insert the new cabin air filter into the slot; you should see an arrow on the wall of the air filter indicating which side should be facing up (refer to Figure 3). Snap the cover back into place. And lastly, ease your glove box forward into place and reattach the damper arms.
Pro Tip
It's recommended that you replace the cabin air filter in a 6th generation Toyota Camry every 15k to 25k miles.
