Default When should I change my transmission fluid on a 2006 Camry 4cyl Automatic?

I have a 2006 Camry 4cyl Automatic with 51K and was recommended by the dealer to change the fluid at 45K?The Toyota dealer will charge $180 to service the tranny and Good Year will charge $ 105. Can anyone provide feedback? I am wondering if the fluid change is necessary since all the recommendations in the book are to "Check Transmission Fluid" at 30K and 60K etc. Also do you think the price difference is significant and warranted. Thank you for you assistance.

Regards,
Angel

PS. The dealer also recommended I should change the serpentine belt $143.00

My advice would be to stick with dealer transmission fluid.
Changing the fluid and not the filter wont do much if you ask me.

I always change the fluid every 30k and the filter at 60k with new fluid as well.

Im not sure on the intervals my 05camry used never came with a book but i really dont need one anyways.

Which reminds me im at 99k....Almost out of a warranty woohooo...I can finally mod this thing

ok hopefully this works this time....

If your worried about the warranty and issues that may arise take it to the dealership..It might cost more but its worth the extra buck if something goes wrong. They usually have no problem fixing there own work as opposed to someone else...

Go by the owners manual for intervals when services need to be done. It never hurts to do things in advance ...

Serpentine belt can be checked and inspected for flaws. Other than that you should have no worrys .. Hope this helps

Interesting. I've never heard 45k miles as a recommended interval, not even by someone at a stealership. I've only heard every 30k miles, or more rarely, every 60k miles.

The Toyota dealer will charge $180 to service the tranny and Good
Year will charge $ 105. Also do you think the price difference is
significant and warranted.
Ask each of them exactly what they will
do. Many shops, dealerships and independents alike, offer a "transmission
service", but few specify upfront what exactly they do as part of that
service. For example, some drain and fill (w/o dropping the pan), drain and
fill (incl. dropping the pan), while some flush and fill. Also, if the '06
transmission has a separate differential (e.g. like my '98 does) housing, it
should be serviced as well. Anyway, ask each service shop what exactly they
will do for what price and then you can get an idea of whether the price is
fair or not.

$143.00
IMO, it's much too early to change this belt. Unless they
specifically indicated that it is showing signs of advanced wear (or unless
you're hearing a squealing noise coming from the engine compartment) , then
I'd pass on this as it's probably just a way for them to make some more
money on an unnecessary service. Case in point, I've had only serpentine
belt that required replacement and that was on a Cavalier with 120k miles.
