Replace VSS on 2012-2017 Camry?
I keep on getting a PO500 code on my 2012 Camry. Its for the Vehicle Speed Sensor. When I reset it with my Scanner, it disappears for a day or two, and then comes back. Also it goes away at times when I disconnect the battery.
The VSS is located inside the Transmission above the Valve Body. I'm contemplating replacing it, I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and what their feelings about this are? https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...b6534a7182.png |
What year and engine type?

Bad sensor, sensor connector, wiring or ECU.
The ECU runs self tests at specified driving criteria. The tests can take a few days of driving to complete and in this case fail. . |
I guess I'll change the sensor. I'm not excited about it , especially messing with the valve body.

The link below might provide some guidance as to remove/replace sensor..

Thanks! That really as the missing thing that kept me from getting started this weekend.
Again, thank you so very much. |
Great!
Take note that the trans pan may not use a gasket but sealant. OK to replace with a gasket. Get a torque wrench for the valve body bolts. Use the correct trans fluid. |
