1991 toyota camry dome light question

My gf just got a 91 camry: dome light not working.

-replaced bulb
-checked dome fuse in engine compartment

still doesnt work...am I missing something?

Whats next?

I have the same issue with my 91, dome light won't come on when door is opened, but can be turned on at the switch. I haven't taken the time to look at it, dome light didn't work in my last truck, so I'm kinda used to it. If you figure it out let me know. If I every look into mine I'll post back.

hi, it could be the door sensors. they're simple but they can get stuck. That's what happened to my 92 Camry. It's a relatively easy DIY.

great, that could be it.

Would you mine telling me where to wlook and how to do it?

yes sir! it's in the door jams. It's a round piece of rubber that get's compressed when u close the door. Click on that DIY, there are no pictures but if you'd like i will post pics of me doing it since one of my door sensors are stuck anyway.

My dome light works when the door is open but not in the "on" position. Any ideas on how to fix? 1991 Camry...

The bulb always has 12 volts going to it, The dome switch determines if the bulb is grounded (to complete circuit) to chassis (always on) or goes through a door switch. Check dome switch to make sure the bulb is being grounded when dome light set to on.

It does appear to be grounded. I think you are on to something, as when I went out with a screwdriver to make sure the connection is Beijing made, the light did come on. I am guessing that is what the issue is. I will continue to fiddle with it and maybe it will have a better connection. Thanks for the explanation...

Fixed

It appeared to be an issue with the ground wire. Bent the connection a bit and it worked. Thanks!!!
