Does the A/C amplifier need to be programed? Can I buy a used one and just install it? Got the systems to work to day when we plugged the scanner in to the OBDII port for a few minutes then it kick off, turn key off and back on it would work again but only for a few minutes so I am thinking it must be the A/C amplifier. Any other thoughts?

For an A/C amp try used at Ebay.

The automatic A/C system can be "customized" by the dealer to set parameters to the customers preference. Not sure about the manual.

Suggest before swapping parts to get diagnostic info on this system. Techinfo.toyota.com has access to factory service info, service bulletins and offers 2 day access for $20. Can download all you want.

A few thing listed for listed are a bad A/C fuse, A/C No 2 fuse, IG1 relay, LIN communication, A/C control and A/C amp.

Started working today. Not sure why but we connected to the scanner again and everything started working. Will wait and see what happens.
Thanks to everyone for your help.

Did you clear any codes?

No, did not any get any codes for the A/C. When he plugged the scanner in he could scan everything but the A/C system. After doing some reading we came out and when we plugged the scanner in the fan started working. Checked the heater and a/c and everything was working. But after about a minute or so it stopped working. Still no codes. Unplugged the scanner and plugged it back in and it started working. Did this several times. Drove car home (4 miles) it stopped working 3 times. Would put car in neutral and turn key off and back on and it would work.. Next day when I got in the car everything was working and has been for 3 days.
