Default AC/Heater controls

I have a 08 Camry and the AC control panel quit working, nothing works on the control panel. There's also an 'E' displayed in the Outside Temp info center. Check fuses and did not find any bad ones, thinking it is maybe the ac control modular. Not sure where it is or how to check it when I do find it. Any suggestion on how or what might be wrong.
Thanks
Cecil

There is a self test for this unit, but no one seems to know how to access it without a Toyota tool. Ask at Toyotanation.com

A scanner that reads Toyota codes can access the systems diagnostic's codes.

The unit has a separate control module box/computer (called A/C amplifier) which can fail. Try to get the A/C scanned via the ODBII port.

Had 2 local garages try to scan it but can not get any data on Snap-on scanners. Where is the control module box located? May just buy one and try it.
Thanks for the information.

Check the outside air temp gauge. Location is in front of the radiator mid center. Can see it from outside of the grill. Make sure the sensor is plugged in, not damaged, bad wiring/plug, etc.

If you have an ohm meter can test it. Resistance should change with air temp.
