2001 Solare V6 engine noise ticking and tapping

I just had the timing belt, water pump, seals, all the belts, valve cover gaskets, plugs EGR Changed and when I got the car back it had this terrible loud tapping and ticking noise that seems to be coming from the driver end of the engine. All the fluids were changed and the car ran flawlessly prior to the maintenance. Now is sounds like a piece of junk. it only has 60,000 miles and otherwise is in perfect condition. Anyone have any ideas.

how long was the motor sitting at the workshop

not sure about this part
1#
that engine might have fitted a Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valve

2#
the tappets are hydraulic(valve lash adjuster (VLA) ...part 11 in the attached exploded view .. they might be a bit dry

it may take a bit more driving to get the oil flowing to them

the noise should go away after warming up or a longer drive somewhere

if the noise doesnt go away after that ... post back

It was only at the shop two days, had just come back from a road test when I picked it up.
I believe the tappets are solid.
The engine does have variable valve timing.
The noise does become less when it is warmed up, but it is still there. This is so loud when cold the people will turn and look at the car. Sounds like a thrashing machine until warmed up good.

They claim it was nothing they did. It's vvt noise they think and they did not touch it.

Right there is the very reason no one works on my car but me. Of course its nothing they did so why is the noise there after they worked on it?

You sure on VVTi?

Use a section of hose as a stethoscope to attempt to narrow the problem area. Such as from under a valve cover and if so which one and which end of cover.

The cam gears are located on the drivers side of the head.

not enough oil is getting to the top of your engine

the v6 motor should be (1MZ−FE/3MZ−FE)

see attached file V6 toyota.pdf for head and valve set up with shim adjustments

and that engine has two Camshaft Timing Oil Control Valves
interesting reading from the repair manual

02-06 camry repair manual does show a v6 as a vvti

the camshaft and bearings have to be lifted out to replace the cam seals
