2002 Camry 4cyl No 3rd Harsh Reverse
 

Hey guys! I traded my jeep for a 2002 Camry 2.4 4 Cyl 4 speed. It was driving fine then I lost 3rd and have harsh reverse. I topped off the fluid and no fix. The fluid is still pink but slightly brown…. When it tries 3rd it goes to a low rpm and feels like it’s in neutral. I think it’s either low or over filled on fluid or shift solenoids are toast. Thoughts? What are common failures on these transmissions?

Change the trans oil filter and fluid. Make sure to use the correct fluid.

Scan with an OBDII tool having Toyota codes to check for trans codes.

There is a sticker on the side of the drivers door which will have the trans model. It might be a U241E.

There is no codes BUT I do not see a TCM module in my scan tool. I see 4 modules unless the PCM is the TCM.

I will re inspect fluid level and see where its at. I suspecting a shift solenoid and not a clutch. Ill take it for a spin again. I was reading a low battery can cause issues?
