Try completely changing the trans fluid. If doing a drain and refill this could take 3-4 times as only about 2.4 qrts is drained at a time, the rest is in the torque converter. Drive a few miles between changes to mix the oil.

If not a dirty fluid issue the delay and jerking are signs of internal problems such as a clutch brake or worn torque converter clutch. These would require major repairs.

You may have one or more wiring connections that are bad. When the engine is running well, try carefully moving the wiring harnesses under the hood back and forth, particularly those in the taped bundles that run between the engine and the body. Also check ground connections, especially those between the engine and body.
