1995 Camry 4 Cylinder 02 sensors
I have a 1995 Camry 4 Cylinder California car.
The car calls out for 2 O2 Sensors but I can only find 1 up front after the exhaust. I have the car on jackstands and checked the entire exhaust for the downstream 02 sensor and cannot find another sensor. What am I missing? Would a VIN number help in identifying how many 02 sensors are on this car? |
Is there an emissions convertor coming off the cylinder head? The sensor is before the converter. The sensor body sticks out forward from a metal shield covering the converter.

Thanks for the advice
Yes there is a catalytic converter and exhaust muffler. I can clearly see the upstream 02 sensor just off the exhaust manifold on the front of the engine. I examined the entire exhaust to the catalytic converter looking for that downstream 02 sensor and its associated wire. None to be found. I even ran my hand above and around every exhaust component to the exhaust muffler and cannot find this sensor. I can send you some pictures if that would help. I do appreciate your advice.
Update: Strangely I think I found them. If I am not mistaken they are both accessible in the engine bay and not under the vehicle like most other cars. Thanks for the advice! Here is a picture. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...5dfac7fa9.jpeg |
You have circled the upstream and downstream sensors.

02 Sensors replaced and smog problem solved
Yes I changed both 02 Sensors as I did not get a check engine light but it failed HC and C02 levels. After a drive of 100 miles I took it to my smog shop and passed.
You saved me a lot repair shop money. 👍 Thanks! |
