2007-2009 Headlight assemblies Hybrid vs non-hybrid
HI all, new to the forum.
I'm trying to find out, what exactly is the difference between, hybrid headlight assemblies and non-hybrid headlight assemblies? I'm in the market to get a new set. I have a US made 2007 TCH I see tons of options out there. Nothing fancy, Just stock replacements. However, when I dig deeper into the description it says in big bold letters Does NOT fit Hybrids. No matter if its US or Japan built. Physically they look identical, as far as I can tell. The only difference I can really see, is the slight blue tint on the hybrid headlight assemblies. If that's the only difference I don't care about that. I only ask, because so far there is about a $30-$50 up-charge for the "hybrid" assemblies vs non. any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching for this on the Forums, sorry if i missed it somewhere. |
Don't know.
Toyota lists different part numbers for factory parts based on model while sites like rockauto discriminate by build country for their aftermarket units.. |

Yeah Rock Auto was/is my go to place for parts info. You are absolutely right about that. I wouldn't be surprised if they break it down to what day of the week the car was manufactured to get the correct part. Lol |
Solved
I have bought (and returned) all of the headlights assemblies I could possibly find.
I found that all of the Camry headlight assemblies fit every single Camry US or Japan built, Hybrid or not. I did confirm that hybrid headlight housings only differ, in that they have the blue tint inside the house. The only other thing to note is that some housings came with a little extra material at the bottom of the housing to mount an HID ballast. This extra material did not interfere with installation at all. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...cb536a0c6b.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...70e3d09e09.jpg Old on the right New on the left. Decided to go with a black tint to match the car. The tint doesn't affect light pattern of high or low beams https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...9b067d98ad.jpg I am very pleased with the outcome. The low beams are more crisps. The cut off is properly alligned and doesn't glare into on coming traffic. She feels like a new car now. Thigh beams are twice as wide and cover the all gaps that the low beams miss. I love it. A simple cleaning of the old headlights would not have been sufficient for me. I do hope this helps others. |

2009 Hybrid lights
I’m looking for lights for my daughters 2009 Camry Hybrid. Low lights are really dim so I’m gonna have the assembly’s changed and do the H9 modification for the low lights.
As you know Hybrid headlights are pricier than standard headlights. Can you please tell me what brand you settled on to install? Or which you felt were better quality? Our car is silver so clear headlights are what I’m after but there are so many brands it’s confusing. |
Hello, I am trying to find new headlights for my 2007 Toyota Camry could you give me a link to the headlights that you chose? Because they look great.
