ok, let's see.
Distributor turns, so timing belt not broken.
Ohmed out the ignition coil - within specs.
Decided to check pickup coil. Good between G+ and G-.
Nothing between Ne- and Ne+.
Could we be looking at a bad pickup coil?

Thanks,
Erik

NE+, NE- circuit has two coils thus twice as much resistance as G+,G- circuit.

NE detects crankshaft position, G camshaft.

If open circuit in NE coils then bad.

Replacement coils may be impossible to find, thus need to replace distributor.

Make sure the electrical plug connections are OK and the issue is actually the coil circuit.

well, at a loss.

checked the pickup coil again - took dist. out. Checked out within specs - had meter on wrong setting. checked dist.-plug wires resistance - checked out fine.
Cant understand why spark at plugs is orange = weak. perhaps it's just as simple as bad cap, wires, and rotor?

Thanks,
Erik

Can you tell me where the noise suppressor is located in this car? Read alot about it being in the distributor..? - found it in the distributor...

Check on drivers side of filter box. Red/White and Brown wires.

If you sure fuel, timing, etc is Ok. Would replace coil, cap, rotor and plugs.

Fuel and timing are fine.
i think i found the noise suppressor in the Distributor - looks like a small silver cylinder? is that it?
I did find the item you mentioned on the fender well near the ignitor. is that the noise suppressor or is it the small capacitor looking thing in the bottom of the distributor?
Thinking about disconnecting it from the coil (instead of cutting the wire as others have stated on other sites) and trying to start it again.
I have read alot about the possibility that the noise suppressor can cause a no-start condition.
I am running out of ideas.....

May look like item in photo. Is inside distributor on this model.

1995 TOYOTA CAMRY Radio Capacitor

Disconnect it however you can.

Suppressor can fail apparently due to heat, then either no spark or spark to weak too start engine.

Some 95's have external coil and suppressor, thus the confusion.

Disconnected the noise suppressor. No change in car - still won't start.
I bought a distributor. Thinking about putting it in just to see if it will start. If no, I can clean it up and stick the old one back in.
Got power to the distributor and the coil on the two lead connector going into the distributor....

Post back with results. Might just be the coil.
