95 LE backup light problem
I have a 1995 Camry LE and the backup lights fail to light when the ignition switch is on and the car is in reverse. It is an automatic transmission. I also noticed that when the transmission is in drive, the D on the dash does not light, but all other light work in each position of the gear selector. I am not sure if the two problems are related or not. The first thing that comes to mind is a switch failure. Is the backup light switch on the transmission or part of the gear selector? Does anyone have any ideas on what to check first, besides the bulbs?

I had a similar problem in a 1989 camry. The switch in that vehicle was located on the trasmission.

RE: 95 LE backup light problem
This is really interesting.. I have the exact problem with the lights and the "D" not lighting up. DId you ever get this resolved?
Thanks.. I just posted the back-up light problem. Mitch |
RE: 95 LE backup light problem
Always check simple stuff first:
1. Bulbs 2. Fuses 3. Electrical contact (make sure all the connections are clean and will provide a good electrical contact.) If none of these are your problem the problem is in the wiring itself. Which translates to get a multimeter and get to tracing the the lines and check voltages where ever applicable. Best of luck, Black00GTS |
