does 1990 camry 4 cyl have a way to read diagnostic codes ?
 

car ran fine, but now won't start.

check engine light won't come on.

The only thing I know of for reading codes is a proprietary diagnosis link under the hood, I may be wrong, I've seen it on a 92 camry... So I'm assuming it's there as well.
That's all the help I can offer.

OBDII was installed on cars 1996 and newer.

Not being smart I gapped points with a match book cover.
 

Old fashion way: check distributor for spark, do you hear fuel pump when you first turn ignition on? No to either start there.
