engine swap

Hi I'm new here and I just needed some advice. I have 1998 Toyota Camry le and I've been planning to do a engine swap. I wanted to know what would be the best engine to drop in my camry. I want it to be faster so performance wise what would be the best engine?:cool::D

1998 Camry offered only two engines options, 4 and 6 cylinder (1MZ-FE).

If the car has the 4 cylinder the best route is to swap for the 6 cylinder. However from a cost standpoint the cheapest route is sell this car and buy another with 6 cylinder.

Changing engines even if offered as an option is expensive. Will need a different trans, axles, computer, wiring harness, front springs, radiator and more.

If wanting to still proceed best to buy a salvaged parts car of the exact same year having the engine you want and swap parts side by side.

If you have the 4 cylinder is may be possible to add a turbo, but the engine was not designed for performance.

Any other engine besides those offered as an option is going to cause LOTS of problems and more expense.

I agree a lot with Toyo. I would go turbo but you should be ready to spend some cash in any of these scenarios. With enough time and money, you can do anything you want.

Inline 6 1JZ or 2JZ SWAP Camry would be cool.
