Ignition coil issue
Hi - I have a 95 camry with 280K miles, manual tran, non CA emissions.
I have had a problem with error code 14 and finally tested the resistance of the coil. My car was having a hot starting problem, it would crank but not catch. But once it cooled down it starts. It also cut out on me a couple of times while driving on the highway. -Check coil resistance: Primary SPEC cold 0.36–0.55 mine was 1.6 ohms Primary SPEC hot 0.45–0.65 ohm mine was 39.3 ohms Secondary SPEC cold 9.0–15.4 k mine was 12k ohms Secondary SPEC hot 11.4–18.1 k mine was 15k ohms so it appears my primary is shot. Is this an easy fix? Do I need to remove the distributor to replace it or does it come out pretty easy. Should I buy a Toyota OEM part or just go with an aftermarket? Any advice would be appreciated.
