Rough Idle for 2016 Toyota Camry
My Camry has roughly 60,000 miles on it. While in park in has a rough idle which I feel in the seat of the driver's seat. The tachometer reads just under 750.

Try cleaning the throttle body.

I can search YouTube but would appreciate a more-direct path to a resource if you know of one |
Have none.
Search on cleaning Toyota electric throttle. Electric as in the computer controls the throttle electronically and not mechanically via the gas pedal. The various Toyota car models all use a similar throttle setup and a video of one model is applicable to another. https://www.google.com/search?q=clea...iw=820&bih=506 Read as much as you can find on the subject before trying it yourself. Use only throttle body cleaners that are stated to be safe for plastics. |
Still Getting a Rough Idle
I finally got around to cleaning the throttle body. There was some carbon but nothing inhibiting the movement of the throttle plate.
I'm still getting a bit of a rough idle when in Park. What's the next logical thing to look at? |
Sometimes disconnecting the battery will cause the idle to reset. However the computer will need to relearn the idle speed which can cause a period of idle issues.
If doing this make sure any car alarms that trigger can be turned off and and any anti-theft systems on the radio (if equipped) reset.. . |
Do you know the idle relearn procedure for my vehicle?
|
The cars computer relearns the idle on its own. You just drive the car.

If the problem is the computer needing to relearn the idle it should take a few engine starts and drives, not thousands of miles.
