Why two gaskets?

Why does this come with two gaskets? It's the water pump housing to engine gasket for 97-01 camry, if that's not obvious. The mahle has only one, but these weird teeth on the inside.

Engine type?

The 4 cylinder has two steel tubes that attach to the WP housing..

it's for the 4 cylinder. But this isn't for the water bypass. The water bypass has one o-ring and a diamond shape gasket.

Yes, that one.

it goes here. At least, that's what I thought. But there doesn't seem to be room for the other?

Never used two o-rings just the flange gasket and one o-ring setup for pipes. Perhaps the rings are sold in a two pack as some application somewhere requires two rings and that is the way they were packaged.

The larger ring seals the housing to the block.
