i just installed a cold air intake a week ago the next day check engine light came on the code was p0401 i know that has something to do worth the emissions and everything I've checked days its egr valve but i can't seem find any tutotal or pictures i don't know if i should try to just put the stock intake back on our keep trying to figure this thing out i just barely cut out the family mechanic cause i think he was ripping me off so I've been doing all the maintenance and work myself but i don't really know that much about cars just watching u tube videos

What is the year of the car and engine type; V6 or 4-cylinder?
P0401 is insufficient exhaust flow for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. |
4 cyl
it's a 09 4 cyl 2.4
|
i know it's the egr system but i don't know how to fix it or where to start
|
This engine model does not have an EGR system.
Suggest rechecking the code to determine if it was P0401 or something else. |
man I'll have too go get it scanned again i was sure that was the code have you heard anything about installing an intake and getting the check engine light or the possibilities
|
Does happen installing an intake can cause codes.
Check for loose or disconnected hoses, clamps, etc. What brand and model intake? |

If the trouble code was not cleared by a scanner, it may take a few days for the computer to run its systems tests and reset.
Give it a few days and if possible recheck the trouble code number. |
I cannot tell the difference yet buddy! Supposedly, I want to buy too! However,

I have no idea either.
I will monitor that post and member to make sure it is not a spammer. Maybe it was just a mistake... |
The information may help for you... your problem is EGR flow so you have a rebuilt engine with less than 1000 miles. It was running great than I started getting.

wow! sorry to hear it.
I'd rather call local dealer in order to solve this issue. The list is on official toyota website or here, sorted by states All about Toyota cars and trucks - mostly about Toyota |
EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT 1999 Camry 2.2 AUTOMATIC
P0401 EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT
1999 Camry 2.2 LE AUTOMATIC After replacing the air intake manifold (plastic piece after air filter) EGR P0401 code because CEL came on. Modulator replaced first since it was warrantied, 2nd was the EGR pressure switch located between firewall and engine, 3rd was the EGR valve itself along with all vacuum lines existing within this system. Drove 100 plus miles hoping it would teach the new parts and go off to no avail. I then reset the codes with my OBD tester, 10 miles later same code no other code no cylinder misses. Recently after manifold replacement was timing belt replacement kit and Valve gasket replaced. Any ideas or other systems that are related that might cause this code? |
