92 camry clunking sound

I bought the car about a month ago with 209000 miles. The PO said the timing belt was changed at about 140000. I had the timing belt and water pump and also put in a new T/stat. The car runs great except for the clunking sound when I go over rought road. The mechanic said the struts were good. Do I have to replace the sway bar bushing or the sway bar link.

hard to say where the noise is coming from, but the most comman problem would be the strut, strut support and sway bar bushings.

Today my '98 just started a clunking sound in my front left as well going over bumps over the highway. Does not sound good. It has always had a creaking type of noise since I've owned it that I figured were the strut mounts which are notorious for that. I'll look at it a little closer tonight after work.

RE: 92 camry clunking sound

well i figured mine out. my brake caliper had come lose and was clunking from the extra movement. i did both my camry and sienna brakes in december and both have loosened up over time so i must have done something wrong.

I'm a little late to this post, but my '99 also has a clunking sound when I go over any sort of ruff road, except mine is from the rear, I believe the driver side. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I plan on replacing the rear struts here soon, I'll have to post results if it changed anything...

Thanks for any help you can give.
