um just make sure there clean i actually used a transparent black paint not a flat cause i wanted them to have the stock shine but u can use flat black paint..if u do flat black just hold the paint far away from the tail light and give it little mist because usually the flat black spray paint isnt transparent. I used the paint that they use for rc car bodies it actually is used as a window tint on the rc cars i got t from a hobby shop its really easy just make sure that each coat dries before u apply the next one and not to put alot of paint on each coat...thats about it...i did mine indoors cause ive had bad experiences with doing it outside like bugs and leaves landin on it while it was still wet...
