Hello, I'm new to the forum, so I apologize if this question/a similar question has already been asked - I couldn't find it.

I have a 2007 Camry that is set up to have a JBL stereo. It came with a JBL headunit that I later discovered was dysfunctional. I tried purchasing a replacement but accidentally ordered a non-JBL variant. I'm wondering if there is a way to install a regular, stock headunit into a car that is outfitted for a JBL headunit.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

JBL may have an remote amp.

 

There is a JBL amp sitting underneath the passenger seat. How would this impact me? Is there a way to bypass it?

 

Does the new stereo have a built-in amp?

 

I’ve read that stock radios come with built-in stock amps, so I beleive so.

 

Does the new radio have the same harness plug-in design as the old amp?

Dig around the cars wiring harness which has the plugs to the radio in case there are extra plug-ins. These could be hidden by tape, etc.

 

Sorry for the late reply. No it does not. I’ve checked and can’t find the right plug ins. Some things are taped down but not the right connections.

 

If the stereo has a built-in amp and the old stereo used a remote amp, and there are no wiring harness plugs for a built-in amp stereo, you will need to bypass the amp. This means running speaker wiring from the stereo to the speaker wires of the amp.
