Default Navigation Maps

Navigation
I just purchased a 2019 Camry XLE and I am confused and frustrated by the Maps button. When I depress the MAPS button on the Camry I get a message that states "The Navigation APP is not installed. Please check TOYOTA website for compatible applications". Does all Navigation functions require a Mobil Phone to work. My confusion comes in to play because I have a 2020 4Runner and without installing anything, when I depress the Maps button on it, I have a complete Mapping program installed. I now realize this is not the best mapping available but I did not have to do anything to the system to use it. Are these functions only available with Car Play and am I required to use a mobil phone to use then?

No idea about a SIMM card. Do not know where it would even go.

The phone is used to get any required applications then when connected to the car can communicate this application.

The phone is the source for getting the apps over the air. When connected to the car and the appropriate action taken (icons touched) the car apps get installed or updated.

Read the info at the link below:

Toyota has revised Entune into something called the Toyota App. Entune can have problems making it not very user friendly.

There are detected websites that deal with Entune Toyotanation.com also has a Entune section. There sites would be able to provide better info.

It has happened that a car nav unit can become defective. Keep this in mind if all your attempts fail.

Also read up on the process to reset the system.
