Default replace the Stereo or the Amp?

1993 Camry.
I like playing cassettes (old school recording all my vinyl for analog sound)...

I repalced the stock speakers front and back with Alpine speakers and got great improvement in sound compare to the stock speakers.

But, I can only afford to replace one and not both. So, will I get more improvement in sound quality by replacing the stock stereo head unit or the stock amp on this Camry??

Here's what I'm thinking for each-
Head unit- Nakamichi TD700 (old school High-End cassette player with azmuth control)
Amp- Apline 4 channel amp

Any thoughts?

Would guess the head unit. It is supposed to be the best.

Will rewiring need to be done if the old amp is still used.
