Default 04 Camry- Blue Ssmoke puff/ cold engine

Hello. I hope someone can help me. I have a 2004 Toyota Camry with 84000 miles, in good condition, no major problems. Ive been noticing a blue puff of exhaust smoke when I start up, cold engine -It lasts for a ten seconds maybe , then goes white for a few more secs then disappears. Ive heard it could be a slow oil leak from valve stems. Today the guy at Advance Auto said it sounds more mechanical like piston rings and ill need an engine job ( rebuild) $1500- $2000 which scared me. Ive heard ( if just valve stems) either an engine flush and or synthetic oil may help. Im concerned an engine flush could free up particles that could clog. Auto parts guy said use heavy oil, if pistons. What are the odds its just stems and how much time would I have before it gets bad. car doesn't seem to be burning too much oil yet. I cant really afford a big job. Please help !! thanks.
