I am hoping to get some insight beyond what the service guy tells me about this 6sp AT. The thing downshifts like mad around town, every time I let up on the gas it feel as tho the brakes are on. It also does it at higher speeds. He says we call that clutch braking and it saves on brake wear. Well it seems to me it causes trans wear. I am reasonably sure it causes poor mileage as the best I have ever gotten on a flat road in kansas with no wind ot 60 mph was 28. Town mileage is 20 only because I shift to neutral, it would be worse left in gear. There is nothing about this in the brochure or the owners manual. Can anyone shed light on this issue? thanks

i agree with you. we got our le last week and i am not sure i like the trans already. we avg'd 25mpg around town and much higher on the hwy with our 07 sonata. that had slapshift also but we never used it. this trans has been out since 08? but on the V6 cars i think. you would think it would be sorted out by now. but shifting into neutral is not the way to go. you might as well have gotten a manual trans car.

I would have liked to try a standard but dealers do not have them. I was kind of hoping one of the certified tech guys might chime in on this whole clutch braking thing. Is this real, is it normal, or do I need to have it looked at? Is anyone else having poor mileage? Tire pressures are normal. 2500 miles
