Default Idler Pulley - 2008 SE 2.4L 4-cyl

Hey everyone,

Anyone know the torque rating on the bolt that holds the idler pulley? Haven't been able to find it on the web or in the Chilton's manual.

I am replacing that and the belt because the car makes a rattling noise on occasion while idling. Sounds like the bearing rattling. It's been doing it since probably 40,000 miles (at 130,000 now).

If you have any experience in the matter let me hear from you.

Thanks!

44 lb-ft.

Might remove the belt and feel this bearing and the water pump bearing.

Engine can make noise from timing chain hitting case, AC compressor clutch bearing, water pump bearing and VVTi sprocket.

Default Thank you for the information!

Thank you toyomoyo.

This is great info.

Been too busy to attempt the repair yet, but I will get after it.

The noise may very well be the chain but I will check all mentioned sources.

Very intermittent and was occurring while under warranty. Got tired of the "couldn't duplicate the problem" comments.

Thanks again!
