How to download check engine codes for a '95 V6?
My 1995 LE V6just lit it's CEL. I sent for the "tool" that would get the code from the ECU memory by Equus. It plugs in to the Diagnostics but no flashes occur with the light. Additionally, I pulled the ECU fuse to reset the CEL to confirm a fault, but the CEL remains on without starting the engine (apparently never resetting). What do you think?
The CEL will always be on when the car is in the "ON" position without the car started. The car has to be running to see if you have a CEL or not. Any auto store can pick up the code because your ECU is OBDII compliant, although they may tell you it's not because it's now a '96+ car, but dont believe it. The 94+ V6 models are OBDII compliant.
