Default Park nuetral switch

I know there are several threads on this issue, but I just want to be sure I am headed in the right direction and hopefully save myself some time.

Ok, so I just rebuilt the engine. I bought this car (2001 Camry LE 5S-FE) with a dead engine so I am not sure if the problem already existed. When I switch from park to drive the 10A gauge fuse blows. From my reading, there is a short somewhere, usually associated with the NSS or the wiring in the trunk. I've been tinkering with it trying to nail it down.

If I start it, then shift to drive the fuse blows. It does not blow until I go through neutral to drive.

If I start it, then unplug the NSS the fuse does not blow.

I know the wires that come off that 10A fuse go to a million different places, but based of my experiment, is it safe to assume that the issue is somewhere between the NSS and the trunk harness?

If I disconnect the wires under the drivers side kick panel going back to the trunk, is it safe to assume that the issue is somewhere between the kick panel and the NSS?

Yes, I have a multi meter. Yes I know how to use it. Yes, I have wiring diagrams. I am just trying to narrow down the number of places to look.

Thanks in advance.

You posted before with this problem?

What happens if you don't start the engine and shift gears?

You sure the fuse is blowing when trans moved to N? One typically issue is wiring damage in trunk where harness transitions from the chassis to the trunk lid? This can cause the fuse to blow when placed in R.

If the fuse only blows in N, then check this wiring for shorts.

Bump! Read the questions I asked specifically.

No, I've not posted this before. As there are hundreds of wires I am trying to narrow down where to look.
