A V6 would require a different trans but will fit (was an option). Don't think the V6 was offered with a manual trans thus more changes to the car would be required.

Not many performance upgrades for the current engine in the car.

There is a 3S-GTE turbo will fit, used in Celica and MR2.

The current model engine in the car can be turbocharged. This may be more common then the above swap.

All but the V6 would bolt up.

For an engine swap you would need to change the computer and wiring would be easier if the engine wiring harness changed.

Turbo charging the 5SFE engine may be easier route. Years ago a Toyota dealer was offering a bolt on kit for this engine.

The 91 may have the smaller 3S-FE 2L engine. The larger 5S-FE replaced this, should bolt up.

would the 3s-gte still work?
that would be better seeing it as a turbo'd factory motor.
