How many miles? What does the sludge look like? A new motor would be ideal but for those whom cant afford one theres always better ways of going about this. There are plenty of flush additives you could try. Many flushs you put in removing a qrt of oil 1st. So that your oil isnt over filled to say the least. Then add and run for 10mins. Who knows if they really work though. Sludge can be easily avoided by changing your oil and filter every 3k. Oils main purpose is to clean the engine and remove harmful deposits. Id try one of those if you think its serious enough of a problem.

If the sludge is white your engine is probably done. Water and oil usually will leave a white sludge on the oil cap and in the motor. Bad head gasket which brings up a whole set of new problems.
