Default 97 Camry charcoal canister

I have a 97 camry and last week my check engine light came on. Well we took it to auto zone and w/ there machine they found out it was the charcoal canister. Well i was wondering if i should replace it? Its got 187,000 miles on it. But if its gonna cost a lot to get this thing replaced then...idk what to do. Apparently the charcoal canister going bad on these cars is fairly common.

Can you post the exact code(s).

The can may have a leak. There are also valves, hoses, etc that can have problems. As such unless you know for sure it is the can it could something else related to this system.

There is no code for just the can being bad.

If you need a can try aftermarket parts sites such as www.rockauto.com or junkyards.

You should be able to install the parts yourself.
