Every time my '91 is idleing you can hear very quiet nocking noises coming from the engine. When you rev it up they seem to nock a little more but pretty much dissapear after 2000rpm. Also I've noticed lately that the car's a bit slower. When I'm cruising I usualy have to shift back down a gear when I come to a hill. Is this a sign that it needs a valve job? I had one done at about 145k miles. Now it has just below 180k. What do you think is the problem?

it doesn't sound like you need a valve job..and its been done not to long ago.....from what is sounds like, you igntion mit be going wacky....you mit need a major tune up...its hard to say whats really wrong need more testing and info...
