1st off running tires over psi ratings is very dangerous. Should not be done at all. However i can see your point of view. If you drive up to your local store and the tires have that chance to heat up they will more than likely expand. Rubber when gets hot does expand resulting a hot pressure reading. When they cool down it will settle down 3-5psi .If youlookat the reccomended tire pressure it will normal say 44,35,50,even 70 psifound on some tireand soon after followed by cold, meaning max psi when the tire is cold. Now on the market they have n20 filled tires that are suppose to not change pressure very little if at all which are now found on most sports cars.

Theres lots of things that can cause bad gas mileage. Alot to due with it is the lack of education about cars. Specially to women not all but some same follows for men. Most people now days just put gas in the car and go. Pefect example of this was a woman who told her dad on the phone she needed a new car. It was only 3-4 yrs old so he asked her why wondering what could possibly be worng. She replied it needed new tires. Being that she knew nothing about cars except how to drive and put gas in like he stated to me made him almost have a heart attack . She didnt know that the tires could be changed. Thats just my 2cents

Heres some updates from the Explorer forum. on one post, and elite member posted on how he got 35 MPG on an ex, maby that will help alittle more than me. I checked my tires over the weekend, my max pressure is 50 and tey were at and average of 50. I was getting ~20 MPG city and nice normal tire wear besides alittle rough edges because sometime i think im cool because i can take corners fast and hear my tires squeel. But other than that, their doing great.
